20 new Careers Hubs are being set up to help transform careers education for young people around the country.

Careers Hubs comprise of up to 40 local schools and colleges working together with universities, training providers, employers and career professionals to improve careers education.

Careers Hubs are a central part of the government’s Careers Strategy, published in December 2017, with £5 million allocated over a two-year period to support them.

From September, 710 schools and colleges will work within a Hub and there will be at least one Hub in every region of England outside London.

The 20 Local Enterprise Partnerships who have been successful in their applications to establish Careers Hubs are:

  • Humber
  • Lancashire
  • Leeds City Region
  • Leicester & Leicestershire
  • Liverpool City Region

  • North East
  • Solent
  • South East
  • Stoke & Staffordshire
  • Swindon & Wiltshire
  • Tees Valley
  • West of England
  • Worcestershire
  • York, North Yorkshire and East Riding

In addition to the 20 new Careers Hubs we have agreed to continue to fund the North East Hub, which will use its expertise to support new Hubs across the country.

All Careers Hubs will have access to support and funding to help them meet the eight Gatsby Benchmarks of excellent careers education. This includes:

· A ‘Hub Lead’ to help coordinate activity and build networks

· Access to bursaries for individual schools and colleges to train ‘careers leaders’

· Central Hub Fund of equivalent to £1k per school or college 

· Access to funding for schools to support employer encounters
